Rebar Shims

During the au­tumn of 2008, me and a group of 6 stu­dents worked with Mälar­plast AB to de­velop a new type of rebar shims. The pur­pose of the prod­uct is to lift re­bars when pour­ing con­crete in order to en­sure the struc­tural integ­rity of the con­struc­tion. The chal­lenge was to save mate­rial during pro­duc­tion of the shims while keeping the ri­gidity of products of­fered at the market at the time.

The re­sult was three concepts, one for wall mounted re­bars, one for floor placed re­bars and one for rebar nets. This was the start of a new com­pany, "Armeringsdistanser i Mälardalen AB", which now sells the rebar shims at Armeringsdistanser.se.
